Conference
Dear colleagues,
dear scientists, physicians and students working in the field of Cancer Neuroscience (or planning to do so),
we are pleased to announce the first Heidelberg Conference on Cancer Neuroscience (HCCN), to be held at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg on July 18th and 19th, 2023. This conference is designed to bring together scientists and clinicians in this emerging and highly interdisciplinary field – to share their latest findings and engage in lively discussions. We expect participants from neuromedicine, neuroscience, oncology, cancer research, data science, mathematics, technology development, and more.
Exciting studies of the last years have collectively demonstrated that the initiation, growth, and resistance of cancer can be governed by the central and peripheral nervous system. This has been shown for brain tumors but also for many cancer types outside the brain. Conversely, cancer and cancer therapies can influence the structure and function of the nervous system, with potential harmful feedback loops.
The conference will cover all relevant aspects of Cancer Neuroscience. We will have keynote presentations by leading experts, as well as oral and poster presentations by researchers from around the world. In addition to the scientific program there will be ample opportunities for networking and informal discussions with colleagues.
We invite researchers at all career stages, including students and postdocs, to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations. Abstract submission is open now and the deadline for submission is June 15th.
We hope you will join us for this first international meeting of the field, expecting stimulatory interactions and looking forward to seeing you in the historical city of Heidelberg this summer!
With best regards,
Frank Winkler, Varun Venkataramani, Vera Thiel, Sonja Loges, Wolfgang Wick
